No more payments!

Postby Jon-Marc » Mon Sep 03, 2012 6:41 pm

Today I made the last payment on the RV (5th Wheel) I was buying from the resort. It's old (like me) but in fairly good condition (also like me), but it's all mine! Now the money I've paid on that every month will go into my savings account to go toward putting a skirt around the RV and a storage area under the bed area next Spring. The area under the bed area is just under 6 feet long by 8 feet wide by 57 inches high. That's wasted space that can be used for storage as some people are doing here.

Then I can buy a small chest freezer to put under there so that I don't have to cram my little RV freezer full and wait three days for it to freeze it all. Of course, after I win the lottery this week, that will all be unnecessary.

A "skirt" for an RV in a nudist resort? Is that really necessary?

Actually this is very good news. Congratulations!

It is indeed wonderful to be debt-free. Our home and care will be paid off in four more years and by then all of the kids will be done with college. There is light at the end of the tunnel. :D

I am not debt-free; I merely paid off my "home", the RV in which I live. However, that gives me nearly $200 more each month that I can put in my savings account to go toward things I need to do.

Since I gave up driving early last year due to poor health and failing eyesight, that's one big expense I no longer have. It is a bit inconvenient at times when no one is available to take me for groceries or whatever, but I rarely need to go anywhere and can usually wait until they're available.

I tried to get a photo ID, and they wanted a copy of my birth certificate or a driver license (no license since I quit driving). I can't find the copy I had and tried to get a new one. I was told I had to have a photo ID to get a copy of my birth certificate. So, I've got a catch-22; I need the photo ID to get a copy of my birth certificate, and I need the birth certificate to get a photo ID. I hope I never need to prove who I am. :argh:

Talk to California DMV about giving you an ID based on your prior driver's license. The should have a photo on file. Government seems to keep everything in their records.

Good idea, New_Adventurer. Jon-Marc, California will issue you a state ID with photo.

I have requested my birth certificatte from Georgia ove the years and was never asked for a photo ID, perhaps because I requested it via the mail.

Congratulations from Miami!

It is wonderful to have the old homestead paid for!!! HOWEVER, if you have maintenance fees, etc., they can slightly dent your rejoicing as the months roll on.

We are in a gated community with a home and condo, and our monthly fees are over $700 per month and rising every year! This becomes quite challenging on the fixed retirement income.

Fortunately a trailer park environment should be much less, unless they have club houses, pools, etc. included in the fees.

My expired driver license is from Florida, and I was told that an expired license won't be recognized.

All I now pay is $383 per month site rent, electricity (last bill was $70 with running AC nearly every day last month), and propane--plus $350 per year membership dues. I've already got the $350 (plus a little more) saved, and it's due in December. I won a whole $13 dollars last week in the lottery but usually win nothing. That only serves to tell me that God has nothing against me playing the lottery; He just doesn't want me to win enough to be out of debt and with money in the bank.

Yike -The local casino could use your testimony for cutting in on some of the church member tithes and offerings on that one!!!??? Even your friendly banker's crocodile tears will short circuit your computer due to your missing investments.

I better quit with that inspirational thought,
