Mate, every post you put up about this wrings my heart. Your lad has some deep & serious issues; not that you need me to tell you that... I will continue to pray for you & the rest of the family.

Thank you for all the prayers!!

He was brought home by a sheriff’s deputy last night around 8pm. The officer told him that if he did this again the judge would have him fit with an ankle monitor. He was being belligerent and threatening. He finally went to his room and went to sleep. One of his therapists will be here today to work with him.

We keep praying. A good friend and colleague has a teen son - who seems to have been giving similar anxiety.

Trust.

It is time for an update:
I wish it could be a good one for a change...
My son spent a month in big boy jail for misdemeanor theft by taking due to the proximity of his 18th birthday in April. He has been on probation since Dec. 12th. He receive a letter from the probation officer on February 11th stating he is in violation of his probation agreement, a warrant has been issued, and that he had 10 days to appear or the agreement would be void. He told me on the afternoon of the 14th he was heading to the probation office. My wife and I have not seen him since. The probation officer has not seen nor heard from him. He called my wife Tuesday she told him he need to come home. He said he would be home that night. He has blocked us on all social media. He has dug himself into a bigger hole than if he had just reported.

RM, I’m sure this is tearing you and your wife apart but it appears your son doesn’t want your help. It’s time, in my opinion, to let him face the consequences of his decisions.

Thanks for the update & I do mean that. We have a clearer idea of what is going on; even though the news is not good. Corrie Ten Boom who was in Ravensbruck Concentration Camp (I think) because her family hid Jews from the Nazis, famously said, "There is no hole so deep that God is not deeper still."

Your boy's situation only appears hopeless in human terms; I will continue to pray.

Keep focussed. I will not claim to know what you are going through much less the outcomes - Still I've seen similar and it is not easy.

A bit of an update:
My son reached out to my wife and I on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week. I have not seen or heard from him since he ran away again February 14 ( he doesn’t turn 18 until April 22). The reason he reached out, his girlfriend committed suicide on Tuesday. He actually came to talk with me on Thursday. We talked for a couple of hours and he stayed for dinner. While he is speaking with more maturity than I have ever heard before, my BS meter was sounding quite often, but I just let him talk. (When he spoke with my wife, his mom, she also didn’t believe much of what he said). Anyway, he asked her to go to the funeral with him on Sunday then he backed out and didn’t go at all. He does not plan on moving back home, which sad to say, we are all relieved(as my daughter put it, “it’s been so peaceful since he has been gone”).

RM, I’m sorry to learn about your son’s girlfriend’s suicide as well as the continued estrangement. However, your family’s sense of relief he has decided not to return home is certainly understandable and very important to your sense of well being and safety, quite honestly.

Tough stuff, mate; that must have been such hard going, wanting to enfold him but knowing he's not ready for it. I'll keep praying.

Update:
My son left our home in February, three month prior to his eighteenth Birthday. I consulted a lawyer as to whether I should report him as a runaway, again, with so little time before he turned 18. The answer I receive was an emphatic yes, if only to protect our family from any possibility of being charged with neglect. So, we did. He has been telling people we kicked him out in February, we didn’t.

We have seen him several times since he turned eighteen and I treat him as an adult who is making decisions on his own only giving advice when asked. He still has an active warrant for his arrest for probation violations. We know he is drinking and smoking pot(which is still illegal in Georgia) and posting pictures of this activities online. The stories he tells us about what is going on in his life contradict themselves multiple times per conversation, so we believe very little of what he is telling us. We have been told from other sources that a girl he has been seeing is pregnant but it may not be his child. The person that told us said that he refuses to do a paternity test: our daughter asked him about this and he told her it was true (but, again, it is hard to determine if he is telling the truth or not).

He needs prayer. I appreciate all the prayers that have gone before and those to come.
