Why be dressed?

And after doing all they do, they get up, take a bath, powder themselves, wear perfume, comb their hairs, get dressed, and thus progressively go back to being what they are not.

Why do we want to be something we're not? But too many of us want just that. :(

In part [complicated critters us humans] to seem more of a winner, in part to hide that we are vulnerable.

Lords of creation, but we always feel that we're green kids who got the job by a fluke.

insecurity. We do what we do to obtain the favor of those around us. If everyone around us wore no clothes and looked at us critically because we did, would those cloths stay on very long? Of course not. But since everyone wears clothes and looks critically at anyone who doesn't. Very few people have the courage to face the insecurity of remaining out of conformity with the majority. Only the rare few who come to see a significant reason to refuse conformity, start trying to fight the system and push for acceptance of the nonconformist.
